But how can management software also be sustainable? And above all, what is meant by software sustainability?

Sustainable management software is good for your business and also good for the Earth

Software is only sustainable if an effort has been made to reduce the environmental impact associated with its realisation to zero.

It is not science fiction, but sustainable software is a reality and Microsoft is among the pioneers on the road to zero-emission software.

Microsoft took up the challenge

By 2030 Microsoft will be carbon negative, and by 2050 Microsoft will remove from the environment all the carbon the company has emitted directly or through electricity consumption since it was founded in 1975.

It is clear that not in all manufacturing sectors one can aim so high in reducing the ecological footprint. In Microsoft's vision, the software industry can, and indeed must, do so. Moreover, it must help all businesses to take the same path.

The goal is ambitious: Microsoft does not just want to remove as much carbon as it emits, it wants to remove more carbon than it emits each year and help other companies do the same.
